At CDIP we have department of Pharmaceutical chemistry actively engaged in drug development and synthesis with state of the art facility. The focus of the department is mainly on the Designing, Molecular modeling as well as Microwave assisted synthesis of drug molecule. For the same we have Computer Aided Drug Design Laboratory and the software available for structure based drug designing & Virtual Screening includes Chem Draw, Molegro Virtual Docker, Valstat, Autodock.
The department is actively involved in design and development of both conventional and novel drug delivery systems. Thrust areas include design of controlled delivery systems, taste masking, orally disintegrating dosage forms, scale-up and technology transfer of different dosage forms, nanocarriers, and nano cosmoceuticals. Faculty are also involved in development of advanced drug delivery systems such as ethosomes, liposomes, mucoadhesive drug delivery systems, transdermal drug delivery systems, osmotically driven drug delivery systems to name a few.
Thrust areas of research in this department include:
• Pharmacological assessment of natural products, herbal active constituents and small molecules in various animal disease models of diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis and peptic ulcer.
• Pharmacological & molecular studies on cardio protective activity of natural products and herbal active constituents in in-vitro and in-vivo models of myocardial infarction.
• Toxicological studies for pharmaceutical industries.
Research in this area revolves around bioactivity guided fractionation of herbal extracts, isolation of active constituents and their structural elucidation, identification and authentication and standardization of herbal extracts.
Research in this area mainly relates to analytical method development and validation, bioanalytical method development, impurity profiling, chiral chromatography spectroscopic analysis using UV and HPLC.
